The Truth About Valentine's Day

This Article "Historically Incorrect Canoodling" is about how some Americans are saying that people are separating sex from love and devalue marriage. The author is saying that people are most romantic on Valentine's Day and that we have high expectations of marriage. " For thousands of years, love, passion, and marriage were considered a rare and usually undesirable combination. Valentine's Day was originally created by the Roman Catholic Church as a limit on sexual passion". This quote states that it was a rare for people to each other and wanted to get married. " High expectations of married love can lead to huge disappointments, and free choice means that an individual can refuse to settle for a marriage where love is absent." This quote states that we have high expectations of our marriage life nowadays and that our disappointments can turn into divorces and back in the day people low expectations and they really didn't care about their spouse. I think this article is very interesting because it told us when the day was started why it was started and what people think of the day. Some solutions to the problem is that people can show more love everyday then just Valentine's day. I wonder if people would ever lower there expectations on love and marriage? Are ever going to settle down and make kids for the right reason?

Abused & Mistreated

This article " A Rare Case Of Justice" is about how a girl named Sahar Gul whose from Afghanistan  was abused by her in-laws and other females getting the same treatment. "After Sahar Gul was forced to marry at age 13,her in-laws tortured her and kept her in a  dirty, windowless, cellar for months until the police discovered her laying there in hay and animal dung." This quote says that torturing of women happens anywhere. " The abuse by her in-laws continued for six months even as neighbors, police officers, and her own family repeatedly voice suspicions that something was wrong." " Frustrated that the girl could not perform the housework they expected her in-laws put her in the cellar, where she slept on the floor without a mattress, her hands and feet tied with rope." This quote states how badly she was abused by her in-laws and this happened for months. " Much remains to be done. Women abused by their husbands or families often end up in jail instead of theirs abusers." " It's not uncommon, especially in rural areas, for families to trade daughters into marriage or prostitution to settle debts." This is sad because no female should be put through this no matter what. No 13 year old should be forced into marriage or forced into prostitution at any age. I believe that women around the world should have equal rights that shouldn’t be forced into if they don’t want to do it.

The Face of America

The article "The new face of america " by: Veronica Majerol is about how the White(Non-Hispanic) race is going down instead of up." By 2020, whites will likely make up less than half of the under-18 population". This quotes states that the more years go by the more likely the white population is going to go down. Another example is " The number of mixed-race marriages and, as a result, mixed-race children is on the rise" This quotes right here states thats there's going to be alot of mixed children and new races and more conflict" I believe that there's nothing wrong with being a mixed child even though im not. Theres's alot of conflict going around. For example my teacher Mr. Petro said that his wife,sister-law, and mother-law was protesting on how Geno's Steaks, said "In speak english." And that started a big arugment which lead to people being called a whore which is a horrible to be called. This is getting out of hand this is a free country and everyone should be treated equally no one should to endore that so much touture with it just being words it didn't even escalate to nothing bigger. This is to much for our country and to me it doesn't matter if there's more races in the U.S. then it was before.
